Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses a majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills and probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid litigation and court processes.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships - as well as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's need.
